Light Space & Time Online Seascapes Art Exhibition
Congratulations to Sharen-Lee McLachlan and Teresa Franks from the Gold Coast based airbrushing art studio Sisters Air Artistry for being named in the Special Recognition Category of the Light Space and Time Online Gallery Seascapes Exhibition.
Sharen-Lee McLachlan from Sisters Air Artistry said “I am so proud to be named in the Special Recognition Category for my painting “Morning Glory”. I decided to use my favourite medium of airbrushing for this painting to capture the softness of mornings at the beach on the Gold Coast. It is my tribute to our beautiful city and to have it recognised on an international level is absolutely amazing.
I was also named as a Finalist for my painting “Fall” and in the Special Merit Category earlier this year for my painting “Ice Storm” – so to be named three times in the one year is such an honour.
When Teresa Franks from Sisters Air Artistry found out she was also named in the Special Recognition Category she said “Wow! To have both of us recognised in the same competition is such an honour. We also were both chosen as finalists in our first competition The Brisbane Art Prize 2016 – so this is so exciting. I wanted to use airbrushing for this painting “Lighthouse” too because I wanted to capture the strength and softness of the water hitting the rocks at the lighthouse. It is such a wonderful feeling to be honoured with my sister in an international art competition and I just cannot get over this feeling. This is my second time this year to be recognised in this category – the first time was with my painting “Seahorse” and I just couldn’t be prouder.”
“Sharen-Lee and I both love to challenge ourselves by painting in genres that are outside our favourite (animals and women) so it is an even bigger compliment!” said Teresa.
